CONCEPT FOR CONDOMINIUM ACT 2017

BACKGROUND:

High and medium rise commercial cum residential buildings are being constructed in the province, however, the communities are reluctant to purchase these. The major reason being that the developers charge exorbitant rates for the apartment yet there is no real ownership for the purchaser. The developer charges for the cost of land as well as construction, the maintenance remains with the developer.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ACT:

This Act has been prepared to safeguard the rights of the developer and the owners by defining their roles and responsibilities. This Act will encourage people to purchase and live in high and medium rise apartment buildings. The high and medium rise buildings result in high density population which then makes it easier for the service provides to facilities the communities; this includes garbage disposal, water sewerage and mass transit.

Now in order to finalize the Act, the Urban Policy & Planning Unit plans to hold a one-day workshop with all the stakeholders at the Shelton Resizor Hotel, University Road, Peshawar.
